Privacy Policy
Format Remover processes your text in your browser. This policy explains the little data we do (and do not) collect.
Last updated: 2026-10-31 · Maintained by Remond
The short version
- The tool runs entirely in your browser. The text you paste is never uploaded, logged or stored — there is no server processing and nothing to leak.
- There are no accounts and no sign-ups, so we do not collect a name, email address or password.
- The site is free. To keep it that way we may run analytics and advertising, which load only after your consent where the law requires it.
- Questions? Email contact@formatremover.com.
The text you paste
When you use the format remover, your text is cleaned by JavaScript running locally on your device. It is not transmitted to us or to anyone else, and it is not written to our servers, databases or logs. Closing or reloading the page discards it. The same applies to the cleaning options you toggle — they are saved in your browser's local storage, never on our side.
Because nothing leaves your device, you can also verify this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, watch the network tab, and clean some text — no request carries your content.
Information we do collect
We keep data collection to a minimum:
- Support requests. If you contact us by email or through the support form, we receive whatever you choose to send — typically your message, your email address and any screenshots or attachments. We use it only to answer and keep it only as long as needed.
- Essential cookies and local storage. Small, non-tracking items your browser stores so the site works: your language preference, your consent choice and your cleaning settings.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, requested URL, timestamp) for security and abuse prevention. These are short-lived and do not include the text you process.
Analytics and advertising
Format Remover is free to use. To cover the cost of running it, we may use web analytics (such as Plausible or Google Analytics) and display advertising. Where the law requires it — for example in the EU and UK — these scripts are loaded only after you agree through the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time. Analytics and ad providers act under their own privacy policies.
How we use information
- To operate, maintain and improve the service.
- To respond to support requests.
- To prevent abuse, fraud and attacks on the site.
- To understand aggregate usage (which pages are used, roughly where visitors come from).
Data sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share data only with:
- Service providers that help run the site (hosting/CDN, analytics, advertising partners), each under its own privacy policy.
- Authorities, when the law compels us or to protect our rights and the safety of users.
Your rights
Since we hold almost no personal data, most requests are simple. You can:
- Clear everything this site stored by deleting its cookies and local storage in your browser settings.
- Withdraw or change your analytics/advertising consent via the cookie banner.
- Email contact@formatremover.com to ask what we hold about you, or to have support correspondence deleted.
Children's privacy
The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
