What the whitespace remover fixes

Whitespace Remover works on the horizontal whitespace inside lines: doubled spaces, tabs, trailing gaps, and Unicode spaces such as the non-breaking space. In Single spaces mode every run of horizontal whitespace becomes one ordinary space and your line structure stays exactly as it is. No whitespace mode deletes every whitespace character for data, CSV, and code destinations. Trim edges cleans the start and end of each line and leaves interior spacing untouched.

The tool never touches punctuation, Markdown, URLs, emoji, accented letters, or any other visible character, and it does not join or split lines. Line breaks belong to the Line Break Remover, and zero-width characters belong to the AI Text Cleaner.

Single spaces

For prose, emails, and documents. Every run of spaces, tabs, and Unicode spaces becomes one ordinary space, line edges are trimmed, and your paragraphs stay where you put them.

Good fit: pasted text with doubled word gaps, tab jumps, or trailing spaces at line ends.

No whitespace

For data, CSV cells, and code where spacing carries no meaning. Every whitespace character is deleted and words join without separation. Prose will jam together, so use it only when the destination expects one continuous string.

Good fit: a value list or identifier that must contain no whitespace at all.

Trim edges

For cleaning line starts and ends without touching anything inside the line. Leading and trailing spaces and tabs disappear, interior spacing stays exactly as written, and blank lines at the top and bottom are removed.

Good fit: transcripts or code where interior spacing is meaningful but ragged line edges are not.

Questions before you copy

How do I remove extra spaces but keep my line breaks?

Choose Single spaces, the default. It collapses every run of spaces, tabs, and Unicode spaces into one ordinary space, trims the start and end of each line, and leaves your line breaks and blank lines exactly where they are. Run the tool and copy the result when it looks right.

Why do some spaces survive find and replace in my editor?

Those gaps are usually non-breaking spaces (U+00A0), which look like ordinary spaces but are a different character. Editors match the literal space, so the gap survives the replacement. Whitespace Remover collapses NBSP with all other horizontal whitespace in Single spaces mode and deletes it in No whitespace mode.

Will it break code indentation or column alignment?

It can, and the tool warns you before running. Single spaces turns each indentation run into one space, and No whitespace deletes indentation entirely. Choose Trim edges when only ragged line starts and ends bother you: it never touches anything between the first and last visible character of a line.

Is Whitespace Remover free, and what happens to my text?

How do I remove spaces in Excel or Word itself?

Excel has the TRIM function for doubled spaces and CLEAN for non-printing characters, and Word finds special characters with its advanced Find options. For a one-off cleanup, paste the text here, run a mode, and paste the result back instead of maintaining a formula.

Does it clean the odd spacing in ChatGPT and other AI output?
